My Simply Grateful Journal

During my pregnancy with my son, I was extremely private and didn’t make it publicly known ever. People we knew would see us and the frequent greeting was, “We didn’t know y’all were expecting.” Looking back I regret not keeping a better record of my pregnancy like photos and a journal of some sort. Second time is a charm? It has to be; there will be no 3rd time. So far I have done so much better this time around.

Recently on my Instagram stories, I shared my weekly Gratitude journal. I’m writing it in such a way years from now when I gift it to my daughter she will know just how I felt being pregnant with her week by week. Among the topics I’ve decided to write are of course Dad, brother, my food, my feelings and the Coronavirus pandemic. During March’s quarantine was when I started the journal. I was so overwhelmed with anxiety because of the dangerous virus writing quickly became my way to release mentally and emotionally.  Despite all the fear of the unknown, I began teaching myself to be more grateful for the wonderful blessings I do have. I don’t write in the notebook daily. Instead first thing in the morning or right before bed I jot down the highlights of the day in my phones notes. Towards the end of the week I put the highlights together and write it all in my notebook. Attitude of gratitude.

Pregnancy during quarantine and this pandemic in general has been quite the struggle. (Stay tuned for my “Pregnant During a Pandemic” post for more on this! Coming VERY soon!)

I have a gratitude prompts poster that I’ve been telling myself I’m going to do. I’m going to make it an effort to actually work on this. Thanks for the motivation.
